This company was founded in 1914 by Francisco Cardama Godoy. In 1932 the name was changed to FRANCISCO CARDAMA, S.A. It concentrated on timber boat building and repairs for boats of any material. The company’s large number of customers, whose trust has been combined with our hard work, has turned us into one of the most modern dry docks in Spain.
FRANCISCO CARDAMA, S.A. is located at Calle Beiramar 12; a few minutes away from all the official centres, repair shops, ships supply stores, etc. which means there is a great saving in transport needs for workshop staff working on board.
THE WORK WE DO:
BUILDING OF VESSELS in steel (trawlers, long-liners, tug vessels, merchant ships, oceanographic vessels) up to 100m length.
REPAIRING AND LENGTHENING of vessels up to 2800tpm.to do the following works:
Hull blasting and painting with high-pressure machine, using all paintings types (one or two components) and even metal one. There are branches of the main world brands of sea paintings in Vigo.
Building of vessels, lengthenings, reforms and repairs. Repairs of side plates, bulbs, building of keelsons, tank building and reforms, lead fitting, cathodic protection system fitting, repairings and building of different type of pipes, etc.
ULTRASOUND PLATE THICKNESS
Ultrasound plate thickness (with painting and without it) of the plates of the vessels structures, approved by classification societies such as RINA and BUREAU VERITAS.
Building, dismantling and repairing of all types of shafts, rudders, variable pitch propeller or fixed blade propeller, shaft and fuse steam-jacket, checking, repairs and assembly. Dismantling of bottom, intermediate and relief valves cleaning, repairs and assembly.
Wooden deck fitting, hold and freezing tunnel insulation, reforms and repairs of equipments, hold linings etc.
Repairs of lignum vitae and other synthetic materials (Ferobesto or Tufnol) in staves and their placing in rudder and shaft casings of any size.
We have 6 stranding ways, with a maximum capacity of 2800 t.p.m., 105 metres length and 14,6 metres beam.
In the same way we have our own Repair Quay of 80 m. length with all the services, crane, electricity, fresh water, compressed air, fire fighting service, etc.
We have workshops for boilermaking, mechanical plumbing and carpentry:
- Boiler shop: special weldings: welding with electrode, TIG welding, MIG welding, submerged arc welding and plasma arc welding.
- Machine shop: 3 lathes (manuals and by numeric control), 2 vertical drills, milling machine, etc.
- Carpentry shop.
- 5 Cranes for loading and unloading pieces from 3.000 to 20.000 kg.
- Electrical power on individual meters with full security systems in order to avoid accidents.
- Fresh water on individual meters.
- Fire fighting sea water pump service
- Compressed air to whatever quantity you need.
- On board telephone if needed.

We repair and built all types of ship within the size range stated above. Our clients include all kinds of fishing and merchant vessels, tug vessels, dredgers, ocean survey vessels, training ships.
